Angela Datre, 22, is a photographer from New York with a knack for capturing and preserving the energy of a moment. Looking at her photographs gives you the feeling that something is about to happen. In her People and Places collection she enhances this effect by pairing candid portraits with photographs of random, quirky, and emotive sceneries.

”I’m constantly looking for those moments when people really look like themselves, not some posed version of who they want to be. I sometimes have specific photo shoots with people but the majority of these photographs were taken spontaneously with a camera I carry around with me, be it digital or film.”

“I always have at least one camera with me at all times, and the “places” images are just simple things I’ve passed by and felt were interesting (a view of a road in Los Angeles, graffiti my train passed on the Long Island Railroad, the sky reflected in a pond near my town, etc.).”
