Please allow me to introduce Patrick Jilbert, 24. I think you’ll get along quite nicely. He paints, draws, and photographs, and is great friends with irony, satire, and sickness. I asked Patrick what fuels his creativity and motivates him to create. Here’s what he had to say:

p06

”There are a lot of things that draw me into my work. Sometimes part of a song or words I over hear people saying make me want to try to draw something related to it. The gears start to turn in your head and you just want to drop everything you’re doing to create.”

“I became an artist because it’s what I enjoy doing. It’s not something I do full-time right now, but I work at a screen printing shop in order to stay more connected to art. Going to school or pursuing another career just does not seem like an option for me.”

d03

“I enjoy being in total control of what I do, working at my own pace, and not having to answer to anyone… even if it often times means less stability in life. Life’s short and you gotta do what you feel.”
